A Good and Even Better Wireless Portable Printer
Only a few short years ago, asking for a good wireless portable printer would be asking a lot. Wireless printers cost a lot of money, as do many portable printers. Put the two together and you would think you’d have to pay a bundle. Luckily for you, and all other consumers, that doesn’t have to be the case. Of course, if you want a top-notch machine, you’re going to have to pay for it. On the other hand, if you’re just looking for something solid that can get the job done, then there are options. One of those options is the Canon BJC-85 Portable Color Bubble Jet Printer.
The BJC-85 might ring a bell because of the BJC-80 and BJC-55 models that were designed before it. The BJC-85 has more features than its predecessors yet it still sells at a similar price. If you are to choose from the three, the BJC-85 is a no-brainer. As far as wireless capability goes, that’s possible due to IrDA technology. Using infrared, you will be able to print from a PC, mobile phone, laptop, or other handheld device. USB and parallel interfaces are also available. While wireless capability is nice, please keep in mind that this is not a machine you choose for wireless networking. It is a machine you choose for wireless prints.
The resolution on the BJC-85 isn’t terrific. It can only reach as high as 720 x 360 dots per inch for black and white and color, but this is about what should be expected for a cheap wireless portable printer. Speed can get up to 5 pages per minute black and 2 pages per minute color – also not very impressive. What is impressive is smudge-free text, the option to use an IS-12 Color Image Scanner cartridge for scanning, a 30-sheet paper feeder for continuous printing, and a universal power adapter.
The above information might impress some folks, but if you’re willing to pay just a few dollars more and want the best quality out there in regards to a wireless portable printer, consider looking into the Canon Pixma iP100.
