Finding the right a3 laser printer is about as easy as changing a tire on a sheet of ice. Perhaps an analogy that’s a bit of a stretch, but at least I have your attention. And don’t worry; I don’t have your attention for all the wrong reasons. I’m not an employee of any printer company, therefore my articles are unbiased. Well … they might be a little biased toward Canon, but that’s only because they seem to dominate every printer arena while still being fair to customers. That said, I would not be covering a Canon printer here. It will be an HP. I know what you’re thinking – their customer service is awful and they don’t care about the little guy. You know what? You’re right. But they do care about the big guy! And an a3 laser printer is geared toward the big guy. So, if you’re interested in purchasing this machine, you will most likely get more attention from HP than if you would have purchased something else. Is it fair? No. Being that the model, I’m going to cover can be found refurbished for under $400, does it make sense? Actually, yes. It’s not as much the model you’re calling about when in need of assistance, but the type of customer you are. In other words, if you’re involved in big business, HP customer service will love you. If you bought a model for the home office, you have a better chance getting quality help by calling Canon.
One positive thing that can be said about HP is they design high quality products. The HP LaserJet 8100dn is one of those models. This is a black and white a3 laser printer capable of duplexing, qualifying it as an a3 laser printer. The duplexing feature is an enormous convenience to many. Speed for the 8100dn can reach as high as 32 pages per minute, which is very good for any a3 machine that costs under $2,000. It has 1100-sheet capacity, parallel and 10/100Base-TX interfaces, as well as an HP UltraPrecise toner cartridge, HP FastRes technology, and Powersave mode. The latter three features are well worth looking into, as this machine offers excellent value.
