Canon BJC 85 Portable Bubble Jet
One of the first printers I’m going to take a look at is the Canon BJC 85 portable printer. Now it doesn’t say anything about the quality of the printer as is, but this specific model is one of the best selling printers in its price range from Canon. This printer is perfect for people that travel and want to be able to work while on the move. It is also a good solution for people that want to be able to do a little work or print when on vacation.
The BJC 85 weighs no more than 4.5 pounds which is a really great deal for a color printer of this quality. With this you will get a printer that can easily produce letters, presentations and anything in between at a rapid speed. This particular model will print about 5 pages in black and white per minute, and less if you’re printing in colors.
Most of the lightweight printers in the middle range price category will come with wireless connection options such as Bluetooth and IrDA (infrared). Being able to print without having to connect a cable or even bringing cables is a great benefit as it doesn’t get much easier than that. On top of this most of the printers of this quality will also come with one or more batteries which mean that you don’t even have to connect the AC adapter. All you have to do is turn on the printer and you’re ready to print (if you have installed the software on your laptop in advance).
Battery Time is Important
Looking for the BJC 85 model at Amazon didn’t say anything about the longevity of the batteries. Having a portable printer that runs on batteries are great but you would want a printer that will be able to print of hours since today’s laptops can run for 10 hours or more. If you have fully charged batteries and you decide to work for many hours you would want your printer to be able to print when you finish your work. Normally you can just wait to turn on the printer until you’ll need it and then shut of off when you have printed what you needed.
Some reviews I found stated that the printer was a bit expensive and especially if you need additional batteries but from the prices I found at Amazon I don’t think a price between $500 – $600 is expensive for a high quality color portable printer.
