The Canon Pixma ip6000 offers a ton of features. Before we even get to those features, it should be stated that this printer is best suited for someone who is either a professional or hobbyist in the area of graphics and pictures. That doesn’t mean others shouldn’t consider it. This printer can definitely come in handy for various forms of special projects. And for around $50, you’re getting a great bargain.
As far as features go, there’s a long list. One feature that makes this printer stand out right away is its 6-color printing. This is well above the industry standard. Not only that, but it comes with a Canon Think Tank System. This means you will only have to replace the color that ran out, not an entire cartridge. Of course, this will save you time, money and stress.
The Canon Pixma ip6000 also comes with Easy-PhotoPrint software. This means that by using the built-in 2.5 inch LCD screen and control panel, you will be able to make adjustments to your photo. There is no computer required.
You’re most likely wondering about quality and speed. When it comes to quality, the Canon Pixma ip6000 definitely delivers. With resolution up to 4800 x 1200 dpi and Canon FINE technology, quality will not be a concern at all. There is a 1536-nozzle print head that ejects ink droplets as small as two picoliters. In English, that means you will be getting some extremely detailed prints. Speed, on the other hand, is not the Pixma 6000’s strong point. A 4 x 6 borderless print takes around 75 seconds. This is well below the industry standard. That said, this machine is not for people looking for speed. It’s for people who are looking for exceptional quality.
As with most printers, there are going to be negatives. One of those negatives, as mentioned above, is speed. The only other real negative is that the ink tanks are slightly on the small side, but nothing too extreme. Reviewers of this printer obviously aren’t too concerned about the negatives, considering they rated it a 5 out of 5.
User Review #1: I like the memory card option. Once I slip a memory card in, I can use the LCD display and control panel to pretty much edit how I want prior to printing. Being able to see a preview also helps. I’m taking a photography class in high school and I think this printer will help me get a good grade.
User Review #2: First let me start out by saying that I’m one of those tech guys. I’m constantly taking pictures and filming. To me, it’s a form of catching life in one specific moment and then having the opportunity to study everything about that moment. But enough about that. You want to know about the printer. For me, the PictBridge technology is killer. Being able to print anything from a compatible camera or camcorder is really cool. I’ve been using this printer for 16 months and haven’t had any problems. Basically, it rocks!
