It doesn’t have some of the features others may have but this is for those that require exceptional photos above all other things.
It has a high resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi black and color. This means that it can print extremely clear and crisp text as well as produce high quality photos. Canon uses a Full-photolitho-graphy Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) and an extremely accurate 3,072-nozzle print head. To increase the clarity, there is high intensity photo cyan and photo magenta added to the 4 inks.
It can produce borderless prints 4’’ x 6’’ in 46 seconds and has a dual paper path and naturally by using manufacturers’ premium paper, in this case Canon, it can only enhance the quality even more. This is high quality indeed at a surprisingly low price.
Size-wise its dimensions are 16.9 x 12 x 7.3 inches and a fairly lightweight 15.9 lbs.
There is a Bluetooth option available with a separate purchase of a Canon Bluetooth Unit BU-20 for around $50 giving you around a 10 meter range. Another feature is you can print directly using Pictbridge-compatible memory cards.
The iP6600D has a 3.5 color LCD viewer and control panel. This is what stands out most when you first see it. The control panel and viewer will allow you to evaluate and enhance all your photos without having to use a computer.
This will especially come in handy for anyone printing from a PictBridge compatible digital camera or camcorder, or an infrared-enabled mobile phone. Red-eye correction and image enhancement will be taken care of automatically. You will also have the opportunity to print two-sided photos. Needless to say, the ip6600 delivers on convenience.
As far as speed goes, the iP6600D is about average, capable or printing a 4 x 6 borderless print in 46 seconds. But you don’t really own a printer like this for its speed. This is for people that want quality.

The Canon Pixma iP6600D does have a few negatives. One of the biggest negatives, and what seems to be the case with almost every printer these days, is high ink consumption. This is how printer companies make their money, so it is to be expected.
In this case, the ink is also relatively expensive. Another negative is the startup time. It will often take a minute or two. There are only a few printers that have Quick Start. Unfortunately, this isn’t one of them. That said, if you’re not pressed for time then it won’t be a concern for you.
Price-wise it’s possibly a little higher than some would want to pay but this kind of quality is never going to be cheap and based on comments most don’t feel cheated.
