Canon PIXMA iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer Review
The Canon PIXMA iP90v Photo Inkjet Printer is a nice lightweight printer only weighing 4 pounds. It prints a variety of paper sizes from legal to credit card size. It can even run on battery power!
Most enjoy the portability of this printer. Many people travel a lot to special get togethers and events. They require the ability to print right from their camera and this printer lets them do that. They just have to get the Picbridge device so they do not have to lug their laptop computer around with them.
Some do complain about how difficult it is to get the software that comes with the printer working. They report that took a few hours to get everything running right compared to other printers they owned that were more the plug and play variety. The iP90v comes with an excellent manual that helps you know where mistakes are made along with other information. The software is reported to be good though and offers you the ability to not only organize your pictures, but also gives you some editing options such as red eye removal, color balance, darkening, or making the photo brighter.
The downside of this printer is that it appears to underexpose photos according to reviews. So the pictures come out somewhat darker than they should. The only thing that can be done about this is for you overexpose your pictures a bit in your camera as you take them.
Another good point about the iP90v is that it also handles printing documents up. Reviews show that it does 8.5 x 11 well. The specs for the printer shows it goes up to legal and goes down to credit card size. It is reported to be good for a light printing load but turns out high quality. It does not print at the same speed as laser ink jet printers do but plenty fast for what you will probably use it.
The cartridges for the ink are not very big but this is to be expected with a small printer. With normal use, the ink cartridges are said to last 2 – 3 months. This is said to amount to about 60 – 70 sheets for your various needs whether expense reports or maps. One good thing that has been reported is the fact that the printer has a warning for low ink. You can, of course, keep using it until the print fades, according to a review on this iP90v.
One person reported it seemed a bit pricey because you have to add the Bluetooth adapter and a LK-51B battery for it to be totally portable. The Bluetooth makes it wireless, which is a nice feature for today. But on the upside, it is a durable, lightweight, and portable printer. It weighs less than some books do.
So listed here are the good and bad points about this printer. You can see if it suits your purposes or not.
