Canon Pixma mp470 Inkjet Photo Printer Reviewed

If you’re in the market for a printer and need something that can copy, scan and print while still having the ability to produce high quality photo prints, then you should consider Canon. Nearly everyone is well aware of what Canon has accomplished through the years. They are a publicly traded company and have been around for several decades. It’s impossible to have that kind of success without delivering high quality technology on a consistent basis. While Canon designs all types of printers, their Pixma series models should especially be considered if you’re looking for quality photo prints. When it comes to anything related to photography, there is no better company to consider. In this review, we will be focusing on one of their Pixma models, which is the Canon Pixma mp470.

The Canon Pixma mp470 sells for just under $100. This is about the average price for an all-in-one printer with good photo print options. The thing that stands out most about the mp470 is the amount of features that come with it. Let’s review some of those features below.

One feature that separates this model from others in the Pixma mp-line is that there is a 1.8-inch color LCD display. This display and control panel will allow you to adjust and enhance your photos however you please, giving you much more freedom and control than other models can offer. If you’re not one to get involved in that sort of thing, that’s fine, too. This model is built with an Auto-Image Fix feature. This means once you hit the print button for a photo print, everything will be automatically enhanced. Your resolution for photo prints will reach up to 2400 x 4800 color dpi. The print head nozzles will eject tiny ink droplets as small as two picoliters, which will lead to very good detail. A borderless photo print will take 46 seconds, which is about average.

The scanning features for the Canon Pixma mp470 especially stand out. You will have a USB 2.0 interface, which guarantees the fastest image transfers possible. This is a common feature for Pixma mp models. One feature that is not common is that scans can reach resolution up to 2400 x 4800 color dpi. You will be getting some extremely high quality scans. Another good scanning feature is that you will have a Z-lid. This means you will be able to scan thick and bulky items, as well as paper ones.

The biggest negative for the Canon Pixma mp470 is high ink consumption. This seems to be an issue with many Canon Pixma models. To be blunt, that’s the price you have to pay for quality. This model is also a little loud when it first starts up. Other than that, the only other negative is that some units have had paper jam problems.

User Review #1: I have been using this printer for nearly a year without any problems whatsoever. I hope to use it many more years without any problems. The ink goes fast, but the quality of the photo prints and scans are superb. I would definitely recommend this printer to others. Without a doubt.

User Review #2: I bought this printer because it’s PictBridge compatible. I’m a freelance photographer who needs high quality photos and scans as well as the ability to print directly from my digital camera. The mp470 has been the perfect fit. I have no interest in upgrading anytime soon.
