A Computer Laser Printer That Delivers The Goods

Are you looking for a computer laser printer for your home office? If so, you’re probably already well aware of how expensive these models can be. The high quality that laser printers can deliver often comes at a price. That said, if you search hard enough – or smart enough – there’s always a model out there that matches what you need and fits into your budget. For example, the Hp LaserJet P1505 CB412A has a list price of $200. However, it can be found for as low as $150 on many sites, and it sells for only $130 on Amazon.

From this point on, I’ll refer to this model as the P1505. The P1505 supports USB 2.0 connectivity. Unfortunately, that’s as far as the options go. We’re looking at a cheap computer laser printer that offers great value, not an impeccable machine. Another side note is that the USB cable must purchased separately. This is obviously not a bonus. However, there is good news, which is that there’s no more bad news. Just to make sure I don’t lose you in this second paragraph, it would now be a good time to tell you that this model had zero 1 and 2-star ratings. 49% of consumers rated it a 5 of 5. 13% of consumers rated it a 4 of 5. And 38% of consumers rated it a 3 of 5. These are very impressive numbers. As you may know, customer feedback is more important than anything that’s advertised. It often separates the truth from exaggeration. In the case of the P1505, there wasn’t much exaggeration in the way it was advertised, if there was any at all. For example, some printer companies won’t tell you that you must buy a USB cable separately. For Hp to come right out and say it is impressive.

The P1505 has decent speed. It can print up to 24 pages per minute. It takes 6.5 seconds to go from power on to printing. One of the best features for this model is the volume it’s able to handle. It has a maximum duty cycle of 8,000 pages per month, which is stellar for a model that’s designed as a home office printer. There is also a 250-sheet paper tray, which is well above average. To avoid paper jams, try not to go over 200 sheets at one time. This is not a specific issue for this machine, but for all printers. If you put in the maximum that’s advertised, you’re most likely going to be dealing with paper jams. By cutting the amount of paper you put in by at least 20%, you should have much fewer problems. The P1505 also has a 150-sheet output tray that’s capable of neat stacking. This is a nice convenience.

The P1505 comes with Hp Smartprint technology. This means print settings will be automatically optimized. The type of prints you can produce range everywhere from letter to envelopes, and plenty in-between. This model’s dimensions are 14.9 x 9.6 x 8.9 inches and it weighs 12.9 lbs. It’s PC and Mac-compatible and comes with a 1-year limited parts and labor warranty. It’s easy to set-up and use and you will have excellent 64-bit windows support. Resolution of prints will reach as high as 1200 x 1200 dots per inch.

The P1505 is best suited for those looking for a home computer laser printer that’s capable of handling a lot of volume while also delivering good speed and quality.
