Today’s printers can be expensive, especially if you’re looking for a lot of features, good quality and speed. One strategy that many people take is to buy older printers. Whether it’s an old model that can be found new online or a refurbished or used one, this is a good way to save money and still get the results you need. This model is a way to owning a decent home printer for around $50.
It wasn’t the quickest or the quietest but it had a reasonable print quality which was good enough for a good many home users. The HP DeskJet 3325 is not an easy printer to find these days whether it be new refurbished or used so it’s difficult to overly encourage you towards a purchase of a printer you may never find.
More Obtainable Printers
So with that said, the logical thing to do is simply guide you towards some similar models that have the potential of being a simple home use printer at little expense. Many HP DeskJet printers fit this category such as the HP Deskjet D1660 Printer which is as cheap as it gets for a new home printer. As little as $40 they can be found for online and a used model for around $30.
In fact, the HP DeskJet D1660 Printer series also consists of the HP DeskJet D1658, D1660, D1663 and the D1668. It has a decent enough resolution of 300dpi in draft mode and 600 dpi normal or best print mode on both black and color prints.
Speed wise it’s plenty fast enough at 20 ppm black and 16 for color. This is a no thrills simple printer that’s easy to set up and one good thing about fewer features is that there are likely to be fewer things to go wrong with it.
You have to ask yourself is there any logic in getting a used model when new is as inexpensive as this anyway. It is designed with price in mind and therefore has fewer features. The important details you want to know is how fast it will print and what kind of quality are you getting for your small outlay.
You really can print from home without having to lay out a lot of cash as is proven her and the quality is remarkably good for a printer of this price range.

There is also the HP DeskJet 1000 Printer for you to consider which has a modest 60-sheet input tray and a 25-sheet output tray. It is quite quick with speeds of 16 ppm black and 12 for color.
Not rocket speed maybe but what you expect for $30 which is what this home use printer will cost. The resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 color dpi is not bad either giving you good quality prints.
For surprisingly little money you can have scans and copies with such as the HP Deskjet F4480 Inkjet All-in-One for around $80. It has a good fast print speed 28 ppm black and 22 ppm on color. It can even provide you with borderless prints.

New and Inexpensive
All these models and I have not had the need to suggest anything used or refurbished as new is a perfectly good price. Buying a used model comes with risks and in many cases you are only saving yourself a few dollars anyway.
It is probably more worth considering when it comes to higher end printers and you simple don’t have the resources to pay the asking price of a new model. Refurbished models are a far safer bet as they are fully serviced and likely to last as long as a new model.
Many Bargain Home Printers
As you go through the HP DeskJet range, you are likely to find many printers that are designed to meet a lower budget without sacrificing on quality like the HP Deskjet 3000 Printer which has WiFi 802.11n connectivity for wireless printing also which is easy to set up. Again , a great price of just over $40.
For just a few extra dollars you can go considerably up in speed should that be important to you with the HP Deskjet 6940 Color Printer which can motor along printing at 36 ppm and a resolution as high as 4800 dpi. It has Built-in Ethernet network card and automatic duplex printing feature, direct photo printing and all this for around $65.
The market is simply saturated with affordable home printers designed to have few features so that they are simple and affordable, and I haven’t even gone onto any other brands as HP have so many to offer you. They are usually simple 2 cartridge machines and as long as not harshly treated will last you a long time.
Of course using HP’s own brand of paper, the prints will be enhanced, and likewise with the HP Inks.
