The hp deskjet f300 sells for $115 new, $73 refurbished and $50 used on most online retail sites. Of course, you can get much different prices from individual sellers. This model is capable of printing, scanning and copying. It can print and copy photos as small as 4 x 6 and as large as 8.5 x 11. For scans, you will reach resolution up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and 48-bit color depth. As far as speed goes, it can print 20 pages per minute black and 14 pages per minute color, which are good numbers, but not great.

The hp deskjet f300 has HP PhotoSmart Essential Software and HP PhotoSmart Share, which will allow you to edit, enhance, organize and share photos. Whatever you don’t enhance, HP Real Life Technologies will take care of for you. You won’t have to worry about red eye and image enhancement even if you don’t anything other than hit the print button.

This model is compact, light and easy to use. It also has a fold-up paper tray, which helps with storage and portability. It’s not a model with a lot of convenience features, but it does offer the basics. Prints are good quality and speed is slightly above average. Now that you know the basics, let’s get to the negatives.

There are several negatives for the hp deskjet f300. As with many printers, regardless of the brand name or model, there are many reports of paper jams. One unique negative to this model is that error reports will appear even when there are no errors. This can get frustrating. This machine can also be frustrating to others because of the noise it makes. In addition to that, ink consumption is very high. It’s supposed to last 200-300 pages prior to needing a new cartridge, but some have reported needing more ink after as few as 10 pages. Scanning is very slow. And the biggest issue is hp’s customer service. They seem to take the avoidance approach. If you’re warranty has expired, they will also ask for $35 just so you can talk to them. This doesn’t send a good message to the customer. So, while there are some positives for this printer, is it really worth all the headaches? Probably not. You can do better.

User Review #1: It’s a good thing I bought this printer used and for very little money. If not, I would be very upset about how much money I have needed to spend on ink. Other than the ink issue, I think it’s a good printer that gets a bad rap, but it’s not the best one I have owned.

User Review #2: Does this printer come with problems? Yes. But … if you have experience with printers and know how to tackle these problems, they’re all fixable! The f300 has done well for me. I have no complaints.
