Are you looking to buy a printer? It is always advisable to look at user reviews on the type of printer you’re looking to get before you buy. This way, you are given an overview of the printer specifications, its features, and the probable problems that you may encounter with it, and how you could possibly resolve an issue.
If you’re after an All-in-One machine, check out the HP DeskjetF300 series. The HP DeskjetF300 series came in 15 different models and currently, you can still get supplies and accessories for any of these models.
Users have mixed reactions to these series, and of course, as each are on a case to case basis, whatever issue one may have had with a printer of this series, may be different from the others. To some, it was quite acceptable, but to others, it may not be.
Let’s take the HP Deskjet F380 All-in-One Printer/Scanner/Copier for instance. As this is the one most currently searchable printer that is part of the HP Deskjet F300 series on the HP site, as well as Amazon, let’s look at the pros and cons of this printer.

Of course, you can get much different prices from individual sellers. This model is capable of color printing, color scanning and color copying. It supports media sizes from a 4” x 6” photo to legal size 8.5” x 14” paper.
For scans, you will reach resolution up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and 48-bit color depth. The maximum scan size from glass is 8.5 x 11.7 inches. The maximum number of copies it can make at one time is 9. As far as speed goes, it can print in black at 20 pages per minute and 14 pages per minute in color, which are good numbers.
You need to use a USB printer cable to connect to your laptop or PC to use the F380. It has no networking features but it does have the HP PhotoSmart Essential Software and HP PhotoSmart Share, which will allow you to edit, enhance, organize and share photos. Whatever you don’t enhance, HP Real Life Technologies will take care of for you. You won’t have to worry about red eye and image enhancement even if you don’t anything other than hit the print button.
This model is compact and light, with dimensions of 16.8 inches wide by 10.2 inches deep by 7 inches high, and weighs 10 lbs. It also has a fold-up paper tray, which helps with storage and portability. It’s not a model with a lot of convenience features, but it does offer the basics for an All-in-One printer. Prints are of good quality and speed is slightly above average.
What Users Say
[easyazon-image-link asin="B000K67ZE8" alt="HP 21/22 Ink Cartridge in Retail Packagings, Combo Pack" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51tZoLEHPaL._SL160_.jpg" align="right" width="111" height="160"]One of the downside of this printer, as one user had reported, is that it uses up a lot of ink. The ink cartridges that are compatible with the printer do not hold enough ink for the price. The HP 21 Black Ink Cartridge yields up to 190 pages, while the HP 22 Color Ink Cartridge has a yield of 165 pages only. Although you may save on buying multi-packs than single -packs, the low yield per cartridge still does not make it cost effective.
Therefore, if you have a high volume print requirement, it may be better if you scout around for another All-in-One printer. However, if you are a home user and require only a low volume of prints, then this printer is more than good enough for you.
Others have reported paper jams every 2-3 print jobs, which then requires extra time to clear and reduces your productivity. Another report says it generates paper jam error messages even when there are no apparent paper jams. HP support offers solutions to these problems by giving a step by step account on how to clear the paper jams; and when there are no paper jams clearly present, by checking the paper path, cleaning the rollers and rear access door, and performing a power reset.
Many have likewise reported unfortunate experiences with the HP Customer Service and are generally not happy with the way the service was not helpful.
