There isn’t a lot of information available for the HP DeskJet F4235. This all-in-one printer just began selling in August of 2009.

In fact, finding a model on sale is a mighty hard task but the best chance of finding one is to look for any of the F4200 series as they all have the same specs. In fact, the HP F4200 series consists of the F4210/4230/4235/4240/4250/4272/4273/4274/4275/4280/4283/4288/4292/4293. The HP DeskJet F4235 could not be found when I searched for it but you may have better luck on another day.
The only one I found was a HP DeskJet F4280 All-in-One Printer which was available for a silly price of just under $150. Refurbished models were available for about $90 and the only sensible option really is a used model at $26.
$150 is rather a lot for a model that’s no longer produced and has newer versions for less. However, a used model as a secondary printer may not be such a bad idea. For this reason I won’t talk too much about it. I would rather steer you towards a better buy.
But just to remind ourselves of how it performed and in order to find a worthy replacement, I shall simply say that the F4235 is 11.4 x 17.2 x 6.4 inches and weighs 14.1 lbs, making it a larger all-in-one than most. It can print, scan, and copy. That said, just like most HP all-in-one DeskJet printers, scanning is its strongest attribute.
Scanning is fast and of high quality. When it comes to copying, don’t expect anything more than the basics. For printing, the F4200 series printers can print up to 22 pages per minute black and 16 pages per minute color. The use of Vivera inks will allow for excellent quality with images and photos. A fold-up paper tray will help with storage.

Replacement Ideas
Moving away from the DeskJet series then the Hewlett Packard Photosmart 5510 Wireless Color Photo Printer would be a worthy replacement. This all in one photo printer can print, scan and copy to a high standard. In fact, the HP Photosmart 5510 and 6510 series are of the same specifications which open up the possibilities of finding a model at a good price. It has a resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi at best and in draft mode 300 x 300 dpi which isn’t great but you don’t hear of many complaints about the quality of prints. On photos you get max dpi of 4800 x 1200 optimized.
It gives you 4 x 6 inch color photo printing, a color LCD display and has built in wireless. It also features HP ePRINT which means you can print direct from e mail anywhere. Of course an all in one has other functions which we don’t pay enough attention too and the scan has a resolution up to 1200 dpi optical and copy resolution is up to 600 dpi.
The price is a very decent at under $75 and a very worthy and affordable printer copier and scanner at the kind of price many of us can afford.
Again featuring HPs e print is the HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One series but with the addition of a fax and document feeder that can Fax, scan and copy multiple pages automatically. You get the 4 x 6 inch photo printing and a lively print speed of 32ppm black and 31 color. You also get built in wireless and built in networking.
The HP Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One is a bargain on Amazon at around $125.
Drop the fax and add 2 sided printing and you have the HP Photosmart 7510 All-in-One with eFax Printer.
The scanner has a resolution of up to 1200 x 2400 dpi and is a Flatbed type. There is a generous 4.33” color touch screen and again with you can print from the Web without a PC.
Its wireless and can handle sizes 4″ x 6″ to 8.5″ x 14″. The copier can reduce and enlarge 25 to 400% and the price is a very modest $140 on Amazon.
The possibilities are endless with HP and you are not short on choices like the HP Photosmart Premium Fax All-in-One Inkjet Printer with print, copy, scan, fax, CD/DVD printing as well as Ethernet, wireless 802.11g/b network capabilities.
This model gives you a 2.4-in LCD color graphics display and a very decent print speed of 33 ppm black/32 ppm color and Color Photos as fast as 25 sec. It will Fax up to 33.6 kbps and Scan Up to 4800 x 4800 dpi. You can find this model on Amazon for around $190.
So Many HP Choices
HP offer great choices with all in ones and multifunction’s and there is no sense in spending extra on an older outdated printer. Just look through the choices on HP and then compare the retail value with the prices on Amazon and you are going to find many a good deal without sacrificing quality.
