The HP H470b Officejet Mobile Printer is a portable printer that can be taken on the go or used as a backup printer for your home. The HP H470b can be used as a wireless printer on your network, or can be hard wired into your desktop or laptop computer.
The H470b Office Jet Printer is one of a series. The first in the series is the H470 which is the base printer with no battery supplied; and also in the series is the fully portable H470wbt, which is equipped with a battery and Bluetooth adapter and Wi-Fi compatible, making printing from your PDA or cellphone an easy task.
It comes with a one-year limited hardware warranty backed by HP Customer Care, service and support, and one-year technical phone support.
You can also choose to use the A/C plug or use the battery if you do not have access to electricity, or if you were in a country that does not have a compatible electrical source.

Those who have purchased the HP H470b have maintained that it is extremely portable and light. It will fit in many back packs and laptop cases easily without adding much weight.
It’s really perfect for the business person who is away from home or on the road. For wireless printing, the Bluetooth adapter, the HP bt500 Network/Bluetooth adapter, needs to be bought separately. At Amazon, you can get it for a lower price of around $22.
This has saved many from having to tote two bags around or to have to have a case that is on wheels to carry the load. This printer is also very compact so you can use it anywhere you would take your laptop, PDA or cell phone.
Many who travel for their jobs have purchased this printer and have had great success with using it in their vehicles, airport, business meetings where a project may need to be printed on the go or overseas.
Print speeds
When printing, there is a lag of about ten to twenty seconds before the actual printing takes place. Once the printing has started, the printer works very quickly and with great quality. Color prints take a bit longer to produce but still have great quality even with the most detailed graphics. Print speeds are up to 22 pages per minute in black, and 18 pages per minute in color.
Printing in black only for letter quality goes a bit a quicker but the quality does not lack from the speed as the HP H470b Office Jet Mobile Printer produces letter quality output in black as well. This portable printer even makes a great photo printer.
Ink Cartridges
The HP H470b does not go through ink at a high rate. Many have claimed that the ink lasts a bit longer than even their standard desktop printer and which makes it work well as a photo printer. Ink cartridges are not hard to find and can be purchased online or at many computer supply or office supply stores.
It is compatible with the following ink cartridges: HP 98 Black Ink Cartridge (~440 pages) at $22, HP 95 Tri-color Ink Cartridge (~330 pages) at $25, HP 94 Black Ink Cartridge (~600 pages) at $22, HP 99 Photo Ink Cartridge (~130 pages) at $13, and HP 100 Gray Photo Ink Cartridge (~80 pages) also at $13.

It should be noted that you should take care when installing a print cartridge as it must be seated properly or you will have error messages. This can also happen if the printer has been carried and jarred a bit. If this error message occurs after traveling, simply re-seat the ink cartridge and the cartridge will work again with no more error messages. This has been the only problem that has been stated about the HP H470b Office Jet Mobile Printer.
It seems as though the HP H470b Office Jet Mobile Printer is what it claims to be: a great portable printer. A little on the expensive side by some people’s expectation of its value but none the less, this printer is as good as many an office inkjet printer and as fast.
This particular model retails from HP at $299.99 but can be found cheaper on other sites including Amazon at around $275.
