The scanning attachment, the IS-12 Color Image Scanner Cartridge, instantly turns your portable printer into a sheet-fed scanner. It has 24-bit color scanning up to 360 dpi. Very easy to install – just take out the ink cartridge, then place the scanning cartridge in its place, and voila! You’re ready to scan!
The one good thing about the IS-12 is that you could print your scans just as quick by replacing the scanning cartridge with the ink cartridge, and print!

The NB-300 NiMH Battery is rechargeable and comes with the NK-300 Portable kit along with the adapter. This is not easily available but you may check at the Canon site for stock availability. It sells for under $100.

Many people are saying such positive things about this product. Some of these include the page feeder, color graphics, travels well and very easy to use. A customer has reported having used his BJC-80 and it’s still going strong even after ten years, and has never experienced any major mishap.
Apart from changing the color cartridge, and not using the IrDA function because current laptop does not have it, this customer is quite happy to recommend it to anyone who is looking for a portable printer.
Some complaints about this product are how slow it can be to print, the quality of the print and some has experienced it breaking very early on. A customer reportedly had to return it due to mechanical problem where print head stopped functioning properly. To have this happen twice with the same customer was just unfortunate.
