If you like peace and quiet while you’re working, then it doesn’t get much better than what this model has to offer. This is especially beneficial for those who need to work in public settings while on the road. You will feel at ease knowing you won’t be disturbing anyone.
This feature along with Samsung’s excellent customer service are reason enough to invest in the ML-1630, but there are plenty of other reasons as well, which will be covered below.

The Samsung ML-1630 is easily the best portable laser printer in the market. Not only does it offer a ton of features, but it’s cheap. Its list price is $250. However, it can be found on Amazon.com for only $200. Amazon often has refurbished models for sale as well, you may get it for as low as $80, and used for $65; saving you even more money.

The best selling point of this product is its attractive design and great print quality. Depending on your needs though, the Samsung ML-1630 both speed and quality are good enough for where the printer is meant for – the home office, the small office, or as a personal printer.
It presents a small footprint, and it is very sleek. The first thing that sticks out is the look. The size and overall design allow it to be a class all its own. Its modern minimalistic style and sleek lighting system make it a trendsetter for future monochrome printers.

It has touch controls and red and blue LED lights. When it comes to speed, it can print up to 17 pages per minute in letter. Sleep to print time is 15 seconds. These numbers are very impressive for a portable laser printer.
As far as quality goes, resolution can reach as high as 1200 x 600 dots per inch. This is below average, even for a portable machine.
Every machine has its drawbacks; this seems to be one of the very few for the ML-1630. Of course, if you’re primary concern is text then it shouldn’t even be an issue.
The ML-1630 has a semi-automatic sliding cassette tray. It can hold up to 100 sheets and ejects at the push of a button.
This model has 8MB of memory. It’s easy to set-up and use and is a good match even for a portable laser printer novice. If the ML-1630 were to be described in three words, they would be: quiet, attractive, and affordable.
There is one thing to keep in mind, though. You should avoid using thick material. Otherwise, you will have to deal with paper jams.
Conclusion
Overall, output quality was a touch below par for a laser but good enough for most business purposes. Graphics quality is good enough for any internal business use but perhaps you would hesitate to hand it over to a client whom you want to impress. Photo quality was sufficient although output can be a little too dark that tends to lose detail in dark areas.
On the other hand, if you only require light duty printing, the Samsung ML-1630 does its job pretty well, underneath that very nice-looking package. Overall, the ML-1630 can be a good investment for personal use.
