Samsung had developed in 2004 the SCX-4100 which was the first of its kind the company had released. It was an economic choice for small job printing, copying and scanning. Mac users and those who needed fax had to look elsewhere. Two years later the SCX-4200 was released as an upgrade with new features.

When it comes to speed, the SCX-4200 can print up to 19 pages per minute. The first page out from standby will take only 11 seconds. As far as quality goes, prints can reach enhanced resolution of 4800 dots per inch.
Two-sided printing is available and there’s a lot of versatility with the copier, including auto fit, clone, poster and N-up. This model has a 250-sheet paper cassette. It’s also capable of producing envelopes, labels, and the like. It’s PC and Mac-compatible and supports USB 2.0 connectivity.
The Samsung SCX-4200 is monochrome and not capable of color printing and there is no fax machine. On the other hand, there is a flatbed scanner/copier feature. This model’s dimensions are 16 x 14 x 9 inches. Unlike some other models, the toner and drum are included.
The Samsung SCX-4200 is one of the older models of multifunction printers, and has already been discontinued by Samsung; therefore you may not find it brand new to buy. You may still get lucky to find a good deal on refurbished or used conditions but you will have to keep watching out for it on Amazon or EBay. The good thing is Samsung had not stopped developing this technology and have come up with succeeding versions upgrading it to a better machine with other impressive features as well.
With the Samsung SCX-4600, printing productivity has been enhanced with the Easy Screen Print button that is the easiest way to print the contents of your computer screen. It’s especially useful if you handle a high volume of web-based information.
In addition to that, there is the AnyWeb Print software that permits you to select, drag and drop content from different web pages to a blank page without resizing or editing. You can save the files as tiff or pdf’s and print them. Another easy way of gathering information.
This newer version prints quietly at less than 50 dBA, 9 seconds on first print out time, and the speed has been upped to 23 ppm. It still has a 250 Sheet cassette tray that can hold different media sizes from 3”-5” width, to length of 8.5” – 14”.
Enhanced scanning resolution is up to 4,800 dpi. Copying is up to 1200 x 1200 resolution, at a speed of 23 cpm, and has varied copy functions, such as Clone copy, 2 Up copy, Poster copy, Multi copy up to 99 pages, ID copy and 4 Up copy.

Majority of the people who had bought this product had positive reviews and opinions. Got a grade of 4.75 out of 5, which is very high in the standards of multifunction printers. People have said its very cheap, inexpensive to run, prints decent quality, small and compact relative to other multifunction printers, and that unlike most of its rivals, uses laser printing than inkjet technology. To this day, it still is a good buy.
Samsung had really come a long way since they first ventured into the printing industry business, and I believe it would be good to mention that one of the best selling points of Samsung that companies like Hewlett Packard doesn’t have is its stellar customer service.
Whether their employees are just trained very well, or their customer service is so good because they’re trying to catch up with the rest of the major players, the bottom line is the bottom line.
Eventually you will need technical support and it can be comforting to know it will be there for you. Quite refreshing in the printer arena.
