The Canon Selphy CP760 – Beyond a Bargain

This will be a brief review for the Canon Selphy CP760. This is a compact photo printer that sells for a very reasonable price. Its list price is $131.98, but if you check on Amazon you will see that new units are currently selling for as low as $78. Considering most portable photo printers sell for hundreds of dollars, this is beyond a bargain. And it has nothing to do with quality or customer response.

As far as quality goes, this model uses dye-sublimation technology, which leads to prints with more detailed precision. For example, there are 16.8 million different color combinations. This is something you will never find on an inkjet. When it comes to customer response, more than half of the reviewers have given this model the highest rating possible. If I were to attempt a reason as to why the price is so low it would be because this model began selling in 2008. Since there are now upgraded models available, the prices of older models will be knocked down.

Many people think they know how to shop for a printer, but they only think they do. They will go to the store or online to search for the newest and hottest model. What they don’t realize is that they’re paying hundreds of dollars more for a model that has only a few more features than that model’s predecessor does. Are you going to want to pay $200 extra dollars because a 4 x 6-inch photo can be printed in 46 seconds instead of 56 seconds? I highly doubt it. Would you pay an extra $100 because a portable printer weighs 1.6 lbs instead of 2.1 lbs? Not likely. These are the types of things you need to pay attention to. It’s also the primary reason the Canon Selphy CP760 is an amazing bargain at this time.

Before you decide if the CP760 is right for you, let’s go over a few more basic features. This model is 7.9 x 3.3 x 5.6 inches and weighs only 2.1 lbs. Its max print size is 4 x 8 inches. Maximum print resolution is 300 x 300 dpi, but keep in mind this is based on dye-sublimation. It’s PictBridge-compatible and offers an optional Bluetooth interface.
