Where’s the love? We always hear about the Canon Pixma iP100 and HP’s 470 series, but what about the HP Deskjet 460c Mobile Printer? If you’re looking for a wireless printer, this is an amazing option. Don’t take my word for it; take the consumers’ word for it. 85% of users have been more than satisfied with this machine. Can the Canon Pixma iP100 or HP 470 claim that? Okay, maybe they can, but that’s not the point.
The point is that there’s a great little wireless portable printer out there that nobody really talks about. It’s like some secret that people don’t want to share. A lot of its lack of popularity probably has to do with HP’s 470 series. Who wants to go backwards? If it’s cheaper and close to the same thing as far as stats and features go, why not? That said, price is an interesting situation with the 460c.

Refurbished units are currently selling for as low as $130 on Amazon. This is obviously an incredible discount, and something that should really be considered taking advantage of. Refurbished models are almost always just as good as new ones. Someone is basically sending it back to the original manufacturer, who’s replacing a problem part with a new part and rebuilding the machine so it runs like new.
There is an enormous difference between refurbished and used. The best part is that a lot of people aren’t aware of this. No matter what you’re buying when it comes to technology, always consider the refurbished option. You can save a fortune. If you happen to be a highly trusting individual and would prefer to buy used, those units are currently selling for as low as $65 on Amazon.

Prints on the 460c Mobile Printer can reach resolution as high as 4800 dots per inch, but this is only if you use HP premium photo paper. If you use HP’s Vivera Inks, you can also help resist photo fading. These two options will cost a little extra, but are worth the investments.
As far as speed goes, the 460c can print in black up to 17 pages per minute and in color 16 pages per minute. A 4 x 6-inch photo can only take 45 seconds. Needless to say, this is a fast wireless portable printer. This machine is PictBridge-compatible, meaning you can print from many digital cameras, mobile phones and PDAs. The 460c also accepts Bluetooth and WiFi network cards, but they are sold separately.

The HP Deskjet 460c mobile printer is reasonably compact for a portable printer and relatively lightweight, even with the models with a battery. Buying it used or refurbished is the way to go if you want cheaper alternatives to a new model. Of course, you will lose your warranty but HP has service centers everywhere should you have any problems.
It is a fairly good portable printer that provides you with instant printing solutions. May not be a good photo printer, but if you’re the individual who only needs to print primarily text and the odd graphic documents, this 460c portable printer is not a bad choice.
