The Tiniest Of All Wireless Portable Printers

SiPix Pocket Printer A6If you’re looking into wireless portable printers and you’re not opposed to going a little old school and saving money, then you might want to consider the SiPix Pocket Printer A6 Mobile Printer. The SiPix Pocket Printer is several years old, but aside from speed, it still offers many features and stats that you might find today.

Unfortunately, these are now difficult to obtain. For the tiniest and cheapest solution to portable printing, this is an unbeatable little printer. Although it lacks the quality of the more recent portable printers on the market, it comes at a fraction of the price.

Its Capability

The SiPix Pocket Printer A6 is 5.58 x 4.25 x .9.92 inches and is less than 1 inch thick. It weighs 8.75 ounces without batteries and 14 ounces with batteries. Needless to say, it’s tiny. This leads to easier travel, especially for business. This machine is also very quiet, which is useful, considering you will often be using it in public places.

Resolution of prints can reach as high as 400 x 400 dots per inch. For speed, it can print up to 2 pages per minute. There’s an auto shut-off feature that’s set to 3 minutes for batteries and 1 hour for an AC adapter.
SiPix Pocket Printer A6
The SiPix Pocket Printer A6 is capable of connecting to PCs or Palm Pilots. It comes with a printer cable rs-232, as well as a 1-year warranty, an owner’s manual, and 4 AA batteries. These are all nice gestures considering many printer companies will make you buy this equipment separate – and often not make you aware of it ahead of time.

The SiPix Pocket Printer A6 uses A6 size paper (4 1/8” x 5 3/4”). Enlarged 200% on a copy machine, it will produce approximately Letter or A4 size (8.5 x 11.7).

The SiPix Pocket Printer A6 is best suited for small projects. It’s not a machine you use for high quality, fast speed, or high volume. Its purpose is to make life easier for those who travel often and need basic prints at the spur of the moment. If you ever run into trouble, you will also receive 12 months technical support. This machine comes with a travel bag, but it’s so small that it’s not necessary. You really can carry it in your pocket.

Limited Availability

The reason it’s being mentioned here is because of all the discount wireless portable printers on the market, this one offers reasonable value. While it has a list price of $150, it can be found at many online sites for less. Amazon is currently selling new units for as low as $33.

Availability is always going to be an issue with an old printer like this. If you happen to be lucky enough to visit Amazon while these prices are still available, it’s highly recommended you take advantage of it. That is, of course, only if the features listed above match what you need.

Also worth noting is that you won’t need to add expensive batteries as this model works with 4 AA batteries. Thermal paper can be somewhat expensive which is a negative but it is available from Amazon for around $5 and there are other suppliers online also.

Popular

SiPix Pocket Printer A6The first thing that should be stated is the SiPix Pocket Printer A6 has a customer satisfaction rating of 64%, which is good, but not great. The reason the rating isn’t higher probably has a lot to do with it being an outdated machine. You can’t expect the world when you’re paying $22. If you go into this investment with low to moderate expectations, you will most likely be satisfied.

The SiPix Pocket Printer A6 has infrared technology. This means you will be able to print from a PDA, PC, laptop, or desktop – as long as you’re nearby. There is also an option for a USB cable. One of the biggest selling points for this machine is that it uses direct thermal printing. This means there’s no need to worry about ink or toner, which is a nice convenience. You’re only concerns will be batteries and paper.

This is a simple little machine designed to serve a purpose and that purpose is to produce black small prints when needed. The fact that it runs off AA batteries is simplicity itself and the downside being the cost of thermal paper.

Some claim that it cannot run in XP but there are drivers available online.

It may be the size that attracts you to this model as there are no portable printers that can fit into a handbag but this does with ease. Not suitable for everyone’s need but if a simple pocket printer is your requirement that produces sufficiently well enough prints but not great then this is for you.

We don’t always require laser print quality and for what it was made to do it does an excellent job. Simple and apart from paper costs and the price of renewing 4 AA batteries are your only costs in running this handy little printer.

At retail price it cannot truly be called inexpensive for what it does but by shopping around the price can be seriously reduced and the running costs are very low indeed. Is a robust and will last a long time giving several prints and possibly outliving the devices you use it with. The paper is expensive but no inks to worry about and of course AA batteries won’t bankrupt you either.

In all, the SiPix Pocket Printer A6, a great little machine if simplicity is your need.
