a3 Laser Printer – Keeping Efficiency and Affordability in Mind

a3 Laser Printer - HP 7500If you are on the lookout for a quality A3 laser printer, it is important that you make an informed decision. Its an important thing to get it right as the high costs of this range of printer means its not something to take lightly and buy on a whim. There are numerous models on the market. It is easy to get overwhelmed with all of the different printers available, so it is important that you do some research and see what options are available.

Expensive Purchase

Whether you need one for your office or you own a business, you should be patient when checking out the different laser printers on the market. These kinds of printers can cost upwards of over $2000, so it is crucial that you really make up your mind on whether or not a particular model is worth the money and can do everything you need it to do for you.

Careful Assessment

Reading into the reviews from customers and shopping around at different retailers will help ensure that you find an A3 model that isn’t outside of your budget, but still performs as you wish. You should have a clear idea of every requirement you need to function in your business and think ahead of any future needs your office or business may have.

Do you require wireless network, does it have duplex capability there are many factors to consider and being sure you don’t overlook anything before you begin your search is crucial.

Shopping Around for the Best Value

The easiest way to find an A3 model within your budget is through shopping around and comparing the prices that different retailers offer. The HP LaserJet 5200tn is a popular monochrome model which is the Base printer plus networking and an additional 500-sheet paper tray plus 16 MB of additional memory (64 MB total) for individuals seeking fast prints and quality results.

With print speeds of 35ppm it is certainly fast enough and a resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi and a duty cycle of 65,000 pages suggesting it is made for some good volume use. Recommended use is 2500 to 10,000 pages per month.

It can also print up to 12’’ x 18’’ inches and optional automatic duplexing. It has an input tray holding 100 sheets and an outlet that will handle 250 sheets and a total media capacity of 850 sheets. Sounds like a good choice for many businesses so what about the price.

The HP Laserjet 5200TN Printer is a hefty investment available for around $2100. This is the base model, the other option on this model being the HP Laserjet 5200DTN Printer available at around $2400. The 5200 DTN is the Base printer plus networking with an additional 500-sheet paper tray, automatic two-sided printing and 80 MB of additional memory (128 MB total).

Choosing a printer manufactured by a popular brand like HP is also a good idea if you are wary of the performance and customer service you will be receiving. You find some of the best prices on

Opting for a Quality A3 Model

With all of the different A3 printers on the market, it can be rather difficult to narrow them all down and find one that performs exactly as you wish. Instead of just heading out to a store and picking up any laser printer within your price range, you should focus on looking through customer reviews.

Articles can also be a good pointer and asking around to see other’s preferences are also good indicators as to the strengths and weaknesses of any particular model. If you have a colleague that has a similar workload to yourself, then see what model and brand they are using and ask for their view on its performance.

Color Options

Sticking with HP a popular choice as an A3 printer that can print in color is the HP Color LaserJet 5500dtn. The reason I point you to this model is because you can find quality refurbished models at a great price.

Naturally buying new is best but this older model is not so easily available new and refurbished units tend to be trustworthy enough and can make a big saving for a business that needs quality at an affordable price.

Generally, you can often find a refurbished model at around half the price of a new one in some cases, and for around $1300, you can have speed of 22ppm black and color and a modest resolution of 600 x 600 dpi which is not great but enough for many people’s needs.

Newer HP Color Laser Printers

To get more up to date and current and if you have a little more cash to invest then consider the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525 Printer series.

They come in 3 options, the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525N which is the base model available under $2500, or the HP Color LaserJet CP5525DN at around $2750 or the top of the range HP Color LaserJet Enterprise CP5525XH for under $4500.

The HP Color Laserjet CP5525DN is the same as the base printer but includes 2 sided duplex printing and the top HP Color Laserjet Enterprise CP5525XH has 2-sided printing, increased standard paper capacity and HP High-Performance Secure Hard Disk.

They print at a rapid speed of 30ppm black and color and resolution of 600 x 600 dpi. It can handle the demand with no problem with a monthly duty cycle of 120,000 pages and covers a wide range of paper sizes including A3.

Quick Decision Equals Bad Choice

Full specs of most of the models listed here are available if not on the HP website then the older models can be checked out through Amazon which normally gives you specifications to ensure the choice you make is the right one that suits your business needs.

Sticking with a brand like HP is often a good idea with such an expensive purchase as they have a good support system and are reliable by reputation.
